Outstanding Service Award - Augmenting Resources for IITR

Mr. Nitesh Saini (1997-BE-Metallurgy) (Founder & President of PanIIT Europe Alumni Association)
Mr. Nitesh Saini graduated from University of Roorkee in 1997 with a Bachelor degree in Metallurgical Engineering. He subsequently pursued his MSc in Computer Science from UIUC, USA. Mr. Nitesh Saini brings over 25 years of distinguished global industry experience, demonstrating a proven track record in steering large-scale business, digital and AI transformations for some of the world’s leading organizations, such as KPMG, Reliance, ING Bank & Canon. He is the Founder & President of PanIIT Europe Alumni Association. Based in the Netherlands for the past 18 years, Nitesh has been an instrumental figure in promoting IIT alumni representation and visibility in Europe. Nitesh is dedicated to advancing the causes and community of IIT Roorkee and the broader IIT network. Recognizing that while IITs and their alumni are well-regarded in regions like India, the United States and English-speaking countries, their influence in Europe has traditionally been limited due to cultural, legal, and language barriers, as well as a comparatively smaller alumni presence. With the rapid expansion of the Indian diaspora and IIT alumni in Europe over the last decade, particularly in fields such as technology, academia, entrepreneurship, and research, Nitesh saw the potential for a unifying platform to support alumni networking, mentorship, and professional growth. In 2022, during his Silver Jubilee visit to IIT Roorkee, Nitesh identified the tremendous potential for building a dynamic IIT alumni community in Europe. Nitesh is also inspired by his father, who is also a UOR Alumni from 1972 batch and has been instrumental in motivating him through personal example to selflessly contribute to IIT Roorkee community. Thereafter, he set a visionary goal: to establish and elevate the IIT brand within Europe. In January 2023, he founded PanIIT Europe Alumni, a nonprofit organization dedicated to positioning the IITs among the world’s premier institutions in academia, research, and innovation, while also showcasing alumni as leaders and pioneers in Europe.
