European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2024, 14–19 Apr 2024, in Vienna, Austria.

I am glad to share that I had the privilege to attend and present my work titled "Identification of Groundwater Recharge Zones Using Comparative Analysis of Drainage Networks in Hard Rock Terrains of Bundelkhand Region" at the prestigious European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2024, 14–19 Apr 2024, in Vienna, Austria. As my first international conference, it was a wonderful and fruitful experience. The conference provided me with the opportunity to interact with a variety of researchers and professionals in the transport domain from around the world. I discussed my research interests with them, as well as the research that IIT Roorkee is doing. I enjoyed exchanging ideas with other researchers. International conference- European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2024 at Vienna, Austria

I express my sincerest gratitude to the Dean of Resources & Alumni Affairs (DORA) for providing me with partial funding to attend the European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2024 held in Vienna, Austria, from 14 April 2024 to 19 April 2024. 27th European Biomass Conference & Exhibition (EUBCE 2019) at Lisbon, Portugal, during 27 to 30 May 2019

I am very thankful to the Dean and members of DORA for considering my application. They approved a travel fund for presenting my work in the international conference EUBCE 2018 held in Lisbon, Portugal. This fund helped me to cover my registration fee, Visa fee, and accommodation charges. Moreover, I also got the "Best poster award" at this conference and the work presented got published in the EUBCE conference proceeding in Scopus. This conference provided me a great opportunity to network with people who are working in the same field. There were a lot of different sessions related to my Ph.D.thesis work and helped me to learn and explore various implementation-related issues.

"First of all, I want to thank DORA, IIT Roorkee for extending help and support so that I can attend IAAE (International Association for Applied Econometrics) 2019 conference. It was indeed a great opportunity to present in an international forum. "I was given Partial Support from DORA, IIT R to present my work in an international conference (ISFEH 9) held in St Petersburg, Russia (21-26 April, 2019). International Seminar on Fire and Explosion Hazards (ISFEH) during its more than 20-year history has become one of the important international events in fire and explosion science and engineering. As this conference was mainly related to my thesis topic, so it helped me to know about the recent developments in this area. Also, it gave me the chance to present my work in front of various prominent professors and other members coming from all over the world and get constructive feedback. Since I was the only Indian in the conference compared to 55 from China, 45 from Russia, 35 from UK, etc. so it also enhanced the visibility of IIT Roorkee and India at international forum of such high reputation.

"The Asia-Pacific Microwave Conference (APMC) is one of the premier international conferences of the microwave community. The conference scope covers of microwave and millimeter-wave engineering, including RF/microwave/THz, antennas & propagation, and EMC/EMI. In my belief, the biggest advantage of attending this conference as a Ph.D. student is to meet with other students studying in other world-leading universities and discussed them about research and life as a PhD-student. Moreover, I also got a chance to showcase my research to Industry and Leading university faculties. "The conference was attended by many dignitaries and eminent persons from Microwave background, across different part of the world. It was very exciting to attend their talk. The conference had in total 32 oral sessions and 9 poster sessions with over 200 research papers. The quality of paper were very good and I learnt a lot by attending a few of those sessions. "Attending the 80th Autumn JSAP Meeting from September 18 - 21, 2019, Sapporo, Japan, was my first ever experience. I cannot help myself expressing immense pleasure to be a presenter at the International Conference. In addition to keynote speeches and research presentations, I attended the plenary session by Prof. Phillip Russell, the inventor of photonic crystal fiber. All the sessions I attended were interesting and insightful. I learned about different innovations and investigations in the field of Photonics from different countries. While attending this conference, I interacted with Indian professors and students studying in Japan and talked about the fellowships and collaborative research opportunities in higher education for Indian students.

"I find conferences rejuvenating. They are inspirational and energizing opportunities to connect with the greater scientific community, think about new strategies to approach my research, contemplate the bigger picture, and establish collaborations. I enjoy presenting my research, catching up with old friends and making new ones, and being exposed to new ideas. The main benefits I get out of conferences are feedback, collegial support, a sense of intellectual community, and time to talk to friends and colleagues about collaborative projects. "I have recently attended the 30th International Conference on Diamond and carbon like materials (DIAM 2019) in Seville, Spain from 8 to 12th September 2019. The conference was a great success with attendees from all around the globe. Experienced and learned some automation related to advanced composite manufacturing techniques Learned the automated fibre placement (AFP) technique. AFP helps in placing continuous laminates of fibre or ply on desired shape and size along with the different direction of laying. Got insight into advanced self-clean coating consisting of multi-size fillers and their characterizations. Got to learn many things on Molecular dynamics simulation. Got insights of advance finite element techniques in the polymer composite field. Got to interact with many professors and delegates who are expert in the field of composite materials.

I thank IIT Roorkee for the partial financial support given to me to attend this prestigious conference. With this support, I was able to buy to and fro air tickets to Spain, and also a part of the registration fee was covered."

FraMCoS-X : Fracture Mechanics of Concrete and Concrete Structures, Bayonne, France, during 24-26 June 2019

"The FraMCoS-X, Conference on Fracture Mechanics of Concrete and Concrete Structures which I attended, covered various topics on theoretical fracture mechanics, computational modelling, experimental methodologies and structural concrete applications etc. Since my research is focused on transition zone and its effect on fracture parameters as well as modelling the transition zone, this conference provided a full opportunity for inspirational and constructive discussions. This conference also acted as a platform to enhance a constructive dialogue on my research, especially on modelling aspect of my work. I presented my work at the conference in theoretical fracture mechanics section. It was a great opportunity to participate fully in discussions with researchers and to share findings and views during paper presentation sessions, coffee breaks, and conference dinner. As a result, I have known many academics and professionals from different countries who have similar research interests to mine.

Finally, I would like to thank Dean of Resources and Alumni Affairs for funding the expense of attending the conference. This conference broadens my knowledge and experience."

FraMCoS-X : Fracture Mechanics of Concrete and Concrete Structures, Bayonne, France, during 24-26 June 2019

"This conference acted as a platform to enhance a constructive dialogue on my research, especially on fracture studies and experimental approach of my work. I presented my work at the conference in Experimental methodologies technical session. I presented the paper at the conference for 20 mins on Tuesday, 25 June 2019 and I was also attending other conference programs during Monday, 24 June to Wednesday, 26 June. FraMCoS-X included more than 150 participants and speakers from all the continents to present their recent research in the area of Fracture Mechanics of concrete structures. It provided me with a beneficial learning experience. It was a great opportunity to hear and interact with the renowned research/scientists working in this research areas. I would like to give privilege to the Dean of Resources and Alumni Affairs (DORA) team for initiating the Partial support under the scheme of Good International Conferences. By this financial support, it was possible to present my research work on global platform conveniently.

"I am grateful to DORA, IIT Roorkee for facilitating my participation at European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2019 by providing partial financial support. Nearly 16,000 researchers and scientists from 113 countries, offered a plethora of scientific knowledge covering domains of Earth and Atmospheric sciences. The conference provided me with extensive networking opportunities and a platform to present my research to the experts. Discussion with peers helped me to gain perspective into the state-of-the-art of my research area and its field application. The workshops, debates, plenary were enlightening and addressed the challenges in science communication, public participation, gender equality and policy making in STEM. Apart from the explicit knowledge gained, the wonderful opportunity to experience the global scientific community and different cultures was enriching.

"My research topic includes Investigation of Surrogate Road Safety Measures at Intersections which is a timely topic sensing the grave road traffic safety situations in developing countries like India. The Transportation Research Board (TRB) annual meeting is one of the biggest conferences which is supported by state transportation departments, federal agencies including the component administrations of the U.S. Department of Transportation, and other organizations and individuals interested in the development of transportation. Hence, it was the right place to present my research work in front of the topmost scientists and researchers of the same domain and got benefitted by the questions and comments raised by them. It improved my research work. Also, this conference helped me to build my professional network and possible collaborations which will affect my research greatly.

"I received the travel grant by Dean of resources and alumni (DORA), IIT Roorkee in March 2019 to attend one of the most prestigious conference in my research area (ACS National meeting and exposition, 31March - 4th April 2019) held at Orlando, Florida, USA. The travel support provided me the opportunity to attend and interact with the fellow researchers in my field at international level at the conference. The conference hosted more than 2000 researchers/scientists every year for an open discussion on various topics. I was able to present my paper on the topic “Identification of disinfection byproducts and its precursors in River Yamuna in India: First case study of the situation”. The outcome of that was a book chapter (in press) to be published by ACS in authorship with reputed scientist in similar area from USA.

European Geosciences Union General Assembly 2019 at Vienna, Austria, during April 7–12, 2019

"I would like to thank IIT Roorkee for the financial support awarded to attend the European Geosciences Union general assembly 2019. It was the first conference for me outside the country and indeed it was very fruitful to me. It was the perfect platform for me to showcase the outcomes of my research to the international audience and interact with them. There were many sessions related to my field of research which helped me to understand the different dimensions of the work happening around the world. My session convenor D. Manariotis Ioannis from the University of Patras, Greece, had discussed about my work and suggested some new upgraded methods of development of composites, he even shared some of the recent studies in this area. There were several companies working in the area of Geosciences such as European space agency, NASA, GOOGLE showcased their recent advancements and developments and their infield applications of the technologies which was quite informative. The keynote lectures which were running parallel to the conference sessions were very informative and innovative.

"I have received a travel grant under the scheme of Good International Conferences/Workshops/Symposia from the DORA office to attend an international event organized by ACS (American Chemical Society). The conference in which I have participated was 257th ACS National Meeting and Exposition with the theme “Chemistry for new frontiers.” This meeting received an estimated 13,000 chemical engineers, academicians, chemists, and other related professionals featuring more than 7,000 presentations. Presenting my work at such a great platform helped me to get expert suggestions to improve my research. Additionally, I got an opportunity to meet scientists, professors from various universities working in my area of research, discussing my research work with them helped me to enhance the quality of my Ph.D. work. Also, I got the chance to participate in the career fair and exposium that led me to meet with the officials of topmost companies and industries. I discussed the issues or troubleshooting I face while working on the related instruments and how to deal with them. Overall the experience was quite fruitful.

I was privileged to get feedback, technical suggestions, and valuable insights about my research or follow-up studies to strengthen my future work.

"Passive Low Energy Architecture (PLEA) is one of the most reputed conferences in the domain of Architecture. PLEA-2018, held from 10 th -12 th December at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong, China, was the 34 th edition of this conference. Presenting a paper at PLEA-2018 was a thoroughly satisfying and enriching experience. Professionally, it presented a great opportunity to keep abreast with the latest research and ideas trending globally in the world of architecture and sustainability. It gave me an opportunity to personally interact with some of the best minds in the field on a one-to-one basis. It was heartening to get appreciation from peers, and I got useful feedback about the direction and approach of my work. In addition, as a practicing architect, an exposure to the way of life and culture of Hong Kong was an enlightening experience for me. The work culture and the infrastructural facilities provided at the CUHK campus was also an eye-opener and presented food for thought regarding what can be achieved and done, given the right opportunity and resources.

"I had received good conference fellowship for attending SPIE Remote Sensing event held in September 2019 at Berlin, Germany. Due to the scholarship, I could attend the esteemed event from the remote sensing community. From the participation, I could connect with the experts and other fellow researchers from my field, wheras at the same time, I could get the comments over my then ongoing work from experts of the respective field. The participation gave me a perspective of ongoing research work at international level. This conference helped me better my approach in many ways by providing a suitable platform to associate with prominent scientists of my field and related disciplines, which enriched me with valuable insights on various ongoing studies all over the world. The Fall meeting helped me to meet a few well-revered personalities whose contributions to my field need no mention. Interacting with other attendees and scientists gave me an idea of potential reviewer questions, thereby helping me in framing my research papers in a better manner. A panel of scientists sharing their experiences outside the domain of academia in the “lesson learned” session, helped me gain awareness about various non-academic jobs. Attending the Education Sessions, and visiting the Exhibit Hall enabled me to communicate with several sponsoring organizations and universities.

In the conference, I got the opportunity to have fruitful discussions with the 2018 IEEE President and researchers of premier institutes. There were multiple robotic hackathons and workshops for developing systems to solve real-time problems. Conclusively, the experience of the conference was very reinforcing."

"I would like to express my sincere thanks to the DORA, IIT Roorkee for providing me the partial financial support for attending AGU Fall Meeting 2018 which is one of the biggest conferences in the area of hydrological and earth sciences. My research paper entitled, “Shared-Leg Fault Tolerant Operation of Multi-Channeled Power Converters Serving to Large Rated DFIM Unit” was submitted to 2020 IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference (APEC) on March 19th under Energy Storage Systems technical lecture session. This is one of the premier conference in the area of power electronics jointly sponsored by the Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PMSA), the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) and the IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS). The provided fund helped me to cover conference registration fee, visa fee, traveling and lodging charges for my visit to New Orleans, Lousiana, USA. The submitted paper got more feedback about my research work from eminent researchers, renowned scientist and industrial tycoons working in the field of power electronics.
